The 2016 Methow Singletrack Solstice is THIS weekend (June 24, 25, &26th) in Winthrop, Washington! Join in and experience great riding, drawings, the Singletrack Solstice Snapshot Photo Contest, and getting to know other awesome mountain bikers!  Most importantly though, all proceeds from this event support the Methow Chapter's mission and efforts to improve mountain biking and trails in the Methow Valley. This event is a main fundraiser for the chapter.  Friday evening's check-in and packet pick up is at the Winthrop pump track from 6pm-8pm.  Enjoy light refreshments and get the blood moving again after sitting in the car with some laps on the track. As always, the signature event for the Solstice is the optional all-day point-to-point ride on Saturday. This year’s route will start near Loup-Loup Summit and take in the Bear Mountain and Middle Fork Beaver Creek trails in the national forest before crossing the Methow Wildlife Area on a variety of singletrack trails.

Part of a system boasting over 110 miles of unique sub-alpine single track—and itself stretching nearly 40 miles from the Colville Reservation nearly to Canada —the Kettle Crest offers riding unlike anything else in Washington, peeking out from the northeast corner of our state to claim this month’s Trail Highlight title.

Sunday evening marked a historic day for the Evergreen Bike Festival in Issaquah, WA. Sure, it was our 7th year. And we were thrilled with the record 3,500+ attendees and more bikes, brands, and demos that ever before. But we also tried something we hadn’t in the past—and it looks like it worked out! This year, our partners at King County Parks and Recreation supported us in doing what many folks have been asking for—expanding to two full days! For the first time ever the Evergreen Mountain Bike Festival—powered by Carter Subaru—ran the entirety of the weekend!

If you’ve ridden King County’s Duthie Hill MTB Park, your tires have rolled on countless hours of volunteer labor.  With over 100,000 visitors each year, Duthie requires constant upkeep and attention—and that’s why community involvement is such an integral part of our maintenance plan.  But it’s not just volunteers—bike businesses are a huge part of the community that keeps Duthie running—and we’d like to recognize three all stars: Sweetlines, Fluidride, and Progression Cycle. Many groups join in the effort to make Duthie as fun as it is, but we consistently see these three pop up. Whether it’s unsolicited donations, constant trailwork, or mechanical support, these folks truly deserve our thanks for helping make Duthie great.

Parking can become a challenge, particularly when you've got eager riders ready to try out the latest bikes. This year we’ve gone to extra lengths to reserve lots, ready shuttles, and encourage carpooling to make the drive to the 2016 Evergreen Mountain Bike Festival at Duthie Hill in Issaquah more fun and ease parking for everyone! Consider using the carpool lots in Sammamish (#1) or Issaquah Highlands (#2) Park n' Rides.

Evergreen members are a passionate bunch. They’re stewards, outdoor recreation advocates, and above all, mountain bikers. And so are the folks at Carter Subaru, which is why we’re stoked to welcome them as new Evergreen partners!  Carter Subaru in Ballard & Shoreline have shown a longstanding commitment to the environment and to outdoor recreation. Since 2008 they’ve worked to reduce their carbon footprint by planting over 130,000 trees with our policy partners at Mountains to Sound Greenway, and what’s more--they’ve just equipped Evergreen staff with a brand new Subaru Outback!
