Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance Community Code of Conduct

 Our staff and local volunteer leaders have the authority to remove participants from Evergreen activities or to cancel the activity as a result of violations to this Code of Conduct. These guidelines exist alongside Evergreen's Privacy Policy.

This code of conduct applies in any in-person or virtual setting associated with Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance. This includes council and board meetings, work parties, education classes or camps, community rides, social events, phone calls, video conferences, and online/social media.

Participants, members, staff, and volunteers are responsible for knowing and abiding by this code of conduct.

 

Code of Conduct

As members, volunteers, and staff of the Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance, we are dedicated to helping provide a welcoming space for all riders to enjoy and challenge themselves on our trails and in our communities. We agree to hold one another accountable to the following:

 

  • Be kind to yourself and others. Have fun, and allow others to do the same.
  • Keep your comments positive and constructive when providing feedback or direction.
  • Provide a welcoming environment where everyone is free to engage, participate, and learn as much, or as little, as they wish.
  • Respect the land and the environment we all recreate in and upon, and respect the tools and materials we use to steward our trails.
  • Allow space for opposing viewpoints and respectful discourse with our fellow trail users, land managers, organizational partners, volunteers, and staff.

 

The following will not be tolerated:

The list below of unacceptable behaviors that will not be tolerated at Evergreen events, education programs, work parties, social gatherings, or online platforms hosted by Evergreen.

  1. All types of discrimination based on a person's age, ethnicity, disability, body type, fitness level, gender, gender expression, gender identity, genetic information, citizenship status, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, and/or veteran status is expressly forbidden and will result in the offending person’s removal from Evergreen activities and/or possible removal from the organization.
  2. Any type of harassment; Persons conducting any verbal, physical, electronic, or other negative behavior which interferes with another individual(s) participation in activities and/or creates an environment that is hostile, intimidating, or abusive will be removed from Evergreen activities and/or removal from the organization.
  3. Displaying harmful images, statements or hate speech; including but not limited to, on a person’s clothing, body, or any other form of display that are openly visible for others to see are forbidden. Persons displaying such items will be asked to cover or remove them. If they do not they will be removed from the Evergreen activity.

 

Online Code of Conduct and Best Practices

This applies to our community calendar, emails, chats, social media posts, blogs, or any other form of online communication.

All events submitted to the Calendar are subject to public disclosure under applicable local, state, and/or Federal law. Evergreen reserves the right to restrict or remove any content that is deemed a violation of this event calendar policy, Evergreen Code of Conduct, or any applicable law. Evergreen Staff shall make the final determination as to whether to restrict or remove any content on the Calendar.

 

Acceptable Posting

Social events related to mountain biking, group rides, clinics, or Chapter board meetings.

  • To enhance the sense of community, we strongly encourage users/ride leaders to use their real names, or first name and last initial, in their web profiles.
  • Everything you submit should be your own work - Please don't copy information from other mountain biking websites or from guide books. If copyrighted information is found, it will be deleted.
  • Evergreen reserves the right to use any submitted text or images in other ways online and in our marketing materials. Please include your name so we can attribute your work to you.

Unacceptable Postings

Posts containing any of the following shall not be allowed:

  • Commercial advertising for products or services that are not from Evergreen sponsors.
  • Harmful language or content.
  • Events that promote a specific religious or political activity or belief unrelated to mountain biking.
  • Sexual content or links to sexual content.
  • Content that promotes, fosters or perpetuates discrimination on the basis of race, ethnicity, creed, color, age, religion, gender, marital status, status with regard to public assistance, national origin, citizenship status, physical or mental disability, or sexual orientation.
  • Solicitations of commerce (i.e., yard sales, sidewalk sales, anniversary sales, etc.)
  • Conduct or encouragement of illegal activity.
  • Information that may tend to compromise the safety or security of the public or public systems.
  • Content that violates the legal ownership interest of any other party.
  • Information about, or content that encourages, riding, or building illegal trails, or actions that go against known land manager policies.
  • Anything that is not appropriate for an all-ages audience.
  • Anything that shows blatant disrespect of other people.
  • Material that is taken from elsewhere without permission.
  • Commercial content that has not been approved in writing by Evergreen staff.
  • Political discussions not relevant to mountain biking.

The Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance Community Events Calendar is provided as a community service by Evergreen. Some events may be posted by community members and may not be endorsed or supported by Evergreen. Though the calendar is moderated for posting acceptable events, Evergreen does not endorse nor verify the information included. If an entry includes a link to a website that does not end in evergreenmtb.org, Evergreen does not control nor review the content or operation of that website (see Privacy Policy). Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance guarantees neither the authenticity, accuracy, appropriateness nor security of the link, website, or content linked thereto. Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance urges you to exercise caution when accessing any unfamiliar websites.

 

Accountability

The code of conduct applies to all Evergreen spaces and participants are responsible for knowing and abiding by these rules. Anyone who violates this code of conduct may be asked to leave or be expelled permanently from Evergreen spaces at the sole discretion of the Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance. The following actions may be taken against you or your content.

  • First Incident: Receive a message from an Evergreen Staff member with a warning either verbal or written
  • Second Incident: Offenders may be removed from the activity, and may be suspended from attending or posting on Evergreen events and platforms for 90 days.
  • Third Incident: A person may be banned from all Evergreen events and platforms for life.

*Note that in some cases, a higher level action may be taken, without prior notice or warning.
