The South Sound Chapter is our tenth chapter, formed in January 2026 by branching off from the Cascades to Sound Chapter to better support the growing trail network in Pierce County. For many years, trail projects and stewardship efforts throughout the South Sound were led as part of Cascades to Sound, but continued growth in partnerships, volunteer leadership, and trail development created the need for a dedicated local chapter. This transition allows for more focused support, stronger local leadership, and long-term planning tailored specifically to the South Sound region.

The South Sound Chapter supports trail projects at Tehaleh, Swan Creek, 410 Corridor, Wards Lake, Dash Point, Eatonville, and Ashford areas; with additional new projects as partnerships and capacity grow. Operating with the full support of Evergreen’s statewide staff, resources, and volunteer network, the Chapter focuses on the unique needs of the South Sound riding community while strengthening advocacy, sustainable access, and stewardship across the region.
