On Friday, October 21, Evergreen hosted our 2016 Annual Community Meeting at the REI Flagship Store to thank you, our gracious members and dedicated volunteers. Roughly 120 folks attended the meeting indulging in free pizza, and beer from Iron Horse Brewery.

This past week “The Hulk,” our famous green Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance Subaru from Carter Subaru, received a new addition to the already-eye catching MTB advocacy machine. Snug in our hitch sits a brand new, bright green five-bike Recon Rack.

There’s just 24 hours left in our 2016 Membership Drive—we’ve had a banner year of trailbuilding and now we need to show our true numbers for the upcoming budget year. Will you help us make the final push and get your friends to join Evergreen?

More Members. More Trails. Period. The tragic reality of Washington MTB is that just 1% of mountain bikers receive 100% of Evergreen Membership Stoke. That’s right; of the estimated 300,000 riders across the state, only 3,200 are active Evergreen members.  This past week, dozens of Washington riders took action to join, increase, or renew their membership—thank you from the Evergreen Staff!

Fall is my favorite time to ride.  Leaves, tacky trail, crisp air, and cool temperatures make for some of the best riding conditions all year.  It’s also the time I renew my Evergreen membership. I'm asking you today to join me in renewing or activating your Evergreen membership, because your membership directly translates to increased representation of mountain bikers in outdoor recreation planning, ongoing trail maintenance, and future projects. Want to see your membership dollars in action? Check out our brand-new Trail Projects Page.

Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance Headquarters has MOVED...about 400 feet. We've expanded beyond our old home (since 2005!) and have moved down the street to a larger space to allow us to house our growing staff and keep all our gear in one spot (goodbye storage space fees!).

Wilderness Bill SB 3205 – Evergreen's Stance (and WHY) Earlier this year, the Sustainable Trails Coalition launched an effort to update the Wilderness Act to allow mountain biking in both Congressionally designated and newly proposed wilderness areas. They have drafted Senate Bill 3205: Human-Powered Travel in Wilderness Areas Act Bill (SB 3205), which was recently introduced and co-sponsored by Utah Senators Mike Lee and Orrin Hatch. SB 3205 would allow mountain bike access in wilderness areas on a case-by-case basis.  The New York Times released an article about the bill this week, and Pinkbike has released an informational three-part series (1, 2, & 3) about the Sustainable Trails Coalition’s efforts.   Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance has been tracking SB 3205 closely and has communicated directly with the Sustainable Trails Coalition about the bill’s importance and relevance to Washington State.  Wilderness issues are complex and can be polarizing, so we have been thorough and conscientious in our consideration of the bill.
