Today I got up early in Manson and drove to Echo Ridge to ride and go look for more deer. I parked at the Bottom of Bergman Gulch (currently closed until July for mtb). If you don’t climb the road, you must climb Waterbar Heaven which is what I did. I saw my first deer two thirds up the trail. I then went around the Outback and saw another deer just above the trail in the open expanse created by the forest service’s mulching ops. I started up Mallory’s trail, but stopped about 100 yards up because a herd of 5 more deer were just above me. I watched their activities for 5 minutes and then turned around and took off on the downhill to the north trailhead. I continued on to Dust, Bobs, Devine, Shoe, and finished with Switchback Alley. It was a neat ride. Dirt is getting dry but traction is still good.
