Summits and Haze

I set up the RV for the family up in Plain and went for a exploration ride this morning at the Leavenworth Ski Hill. After parking in the main lot and gearing up, I began the climb up the NUT to the summit views I wanted. First, I took the roads up to the Punk Rock Lookout hoping to see a parasailer launching but no one was up there midweek. I got my views of both sides of the ridge and then headed back down to climb back up the roads to the summit just North of Tumwater Mountain. I almost hiked up the trail to the top of Tumwater, but I wanted an “MTB only” trip as best as possible. Near the top of the second summit I caught a husband and wife couple grazing and got the report image of the husband while the wife took off. :-)

The fire in NW Lake Chelan (Pomas Fire) created a little haze but no smoky smell like last year's Pioneer fire.

After the two summits, it was trail time! I traversed a little further north to the top of Ribbed and began my first descent all the way down Ribbed.

How come Upper Ribbed is not on Trailforks anymore ??? I only see it on other maps.

Ribbed was dry but traction wasn’t an issue. Lower Ribbed is great! Wish I could do it more often so I can figure out the flow timing and speeds.

After Ribbed, I climbed back up and did Rosy Boa to finish the day. What a wonderful day it was. The Trailforks ride log with pictures can be found here.
