Stuck with gravel for a while

10 | May | '21

After my last report at North Mountain, I am stuck with non-technical gravel riding until my bicep is repaired. Today I took a friend to the Deer Creek gate on the Mountain Loop Highway and we rode up to Barlow Pass with a stop at Big Four and then continued towards Monte Cristo until the snow drifts were too thick to navigate. The county trucks are still working on the reconditioning of the highway for 2021 but snow removal is complete on the west side and should be done on the east side of Barlow Pass next week. We had a fun time being all by ourselves on the highway and on the Monte Cristo Road. It was like we owned the place. Still a bit snowy but a wonderful trek if you haven't done it. Today's GPS track and pics are here. The other notable gravel rides lately have been on Frailey Mountain NW of Oso and the Heybrook Lookout near Index.
