On our country’s 250th Birthday, I turned 63. I invited a couple buddies from way back in High School over to Chelan and took them on a good XC mountain bike ride at Echo Ridge. We started riding a little after 7:30am to beat the heat and see the deer. We rode the Ridge View, and others and finished with Bob’s Trail to finish their intro to mtb. We saw several deer and the beginning of the Chelan Hills wildfire! The fire had started only eight hours earlier and was expanding exponentially. We saw the smoke plume heading northeast and its volume increasing rapidly. Then there would be black plumes inserted, which were man-made structures being destroyed in the process. It was tragic.
Back to the ride. The trail conditions were great and dust was minimized by going early in the moist morning. It was wonderful riding with old friends while enjoying the wonderful day for America and myself. The Trailforks Ride Log and pictures are here.
I was in Oregon for four days, before Chelan, near Mount Hood with my RV and Emtb and camped in an RV park at Mount Hood Village. The first two ride days were misty, foggy, wet foliage rides and the final day was beautiful sun. My ride logs for those are below….
