This morning I got to the trailhead at sunrise and headed up to the top to get a No Service run in before the snow flies and stays. The weather was a bit foggy and cool but not raining. As I got higher, the fog got thicker, views disappeared, fog dew collected on the trees, and the light breeze would clear the trees’ dew and you’d get dripped on as you ride through the forest. It was a very quiet, eerie, ride to the top.
The ride down No Service was a wet, rooty, challenge with a couple dabs but no falls. Where the dirt was clear of needles and leaves, it drained well and was great. But there were a couple tire slides I recovered from.
Once No Service was finished, I had enough roots for the day and, instead of going to do Canyon Creek DH, I decided to climb the towers' service road to return on Raging Ridge for an exhilarating sprint. Once back at Stan's Overlook, I turned on the GoPro and finished with Poppin’ Tops and Flow State (video here w/data). Those trails were as good as they could be with all the rain they got. They were mostly drained but my wind pants and coat were messy! It was a wonderful time but not quite ideal conditions…. But at least, no snow!
The Trailforks ride log and a couple pics for the ride are here.
