From the East in the Heat
Last time I rode this trail was October 2018 and I started from the west end and did a small loop using forest service roads. This morning, I started from the east trailhead and did an ‘out-and-back’ to the Round Mountain viewpoint (5400’). The trail has its share of chewed up, sandy sections and some shaded forest during the climb. It was a challenging climb in the heat. Go really early in the morning in Summer or do it in fall. There was a Touratech Rally in Plain last week and all the motos must have enjoyed this trail a bunch also because of the fresh ruts I had to wander through. Anyway, the views at the top were great and the descent was brushy at times but really fun. The trail is in a great place but the trail wouldn’t make a bucket list because of the growth and moto damage. It’ll be another couple years for me. The trailforks ride log with pics is here .
Since this trail had no videos on PinkBike, video of my full descent is broken up into three separate videos that were divided by climbs out of small “saddles” in the trail if interested.
