I am mostly posting a ride report to comment on the state of the washout. I think the last report made the washout sound worse than it is. It was probably because of the direction he came from. It looks worse coming from the clockwise direction. You can actually bypass the washout without going up the hill. You just drop down and walk down by the river for a couple hundred feet or so and you're good. I found it harder to get my bike over some of the fallen trees than getting around the washout.

Aside from tree fall and the washout the trail was in great shape. Finding the Dungeness trailhead at the spur road parking took a little looking around though. It seems that someone recently did some maintenance on that road and parking lot and partially obscured the trailhead. Also some tree fall knocked down the trail sign. But if you just drop down to the right where the parking area starts you'll find it. The photo I included shows the trailhead.
