This week Evergreen West Sound scored a huge win for mountain biking kids, families, and friends in the Poulsbo area. If you’ve been following the pump track proposal, you know that it’s been a long process—but one that ended with final approval this past Wednesday evening.

Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance is seeking candidates to the Statewide Board of Directors and Committees that support the work of the Board of Directors. Mountain bikers living anywhere in the state can apply for these positions.

It hasn’t happened yet, but it could—and the mountain bike community needs your voice to ensure it doesn’t. The City of Seattle is currently developing its policy for Natural Areas and Greenbelts and without your input, we could see these areas permanently closed to bikes on unpaved trails.

It may sound like an infomercial—“this ride comes with sagebrush single track, towering basalt columns, and sunken lakes standard—all for a limited time only!”—but it’s actually true. Ancient Lake has a relatively small perfect-ride window and it’s open right now.

That’s what The Nature Conservancy is considering as they decide how to manage the land they’ve just purchased from Plum Creek Timber Company. With such an opportunity for recreation and conservation, they’d like to know how you would enjoy this land.
And as mountain bikers, we could enjoy it a lot. And you may not know that some of us already do.
