With all the morning fog in Puget Sound this morning, I figured I wouldn’t get my views or photos so I just went for a good XC ride at the Tolt McDonald trails and thick foliage. The three hours turned into trail clearing of spiderwebs and the foggy dew on all the plants. My windbreaker was soaked and my helmet GoPro had webs strung off it.
My first run went down Steeper Way but it is pretty rutted from rear wheel draggers and there was a lot of loose rock to deal with. After that, I went across the North side trails and then returning back to the truck using the South side trails. Many of the middle trails could use brushing but they are in great shape otherwise. Today’s challenge in my head was trying to keep track of north, south, east, and west in the flat, foggy, daylight. The twisty trails and thick fog hindered visible references and whenever I went to the phone for map location or direction there were times my mental compass needed a direction correction. Trailforks and the phone sure made the day less stressful.
The Trailforks Activity Log for the ride today is here.
