I’ve Never Seen Jackpot Worse Than Today

….And I only did the lower half!

Since Stevens Pass and Mount Baker were expecting two feet of snow over the next couple of days, I went to North Mountain one more time to get as high as I could. I parked at the bottom of Skyline and began my climb.  Snow on the ground began just above Pathfinder (the report image was a blockage on Pathfinder). Snow covered truck tracks helped me get the bike up to the access road to the Jackpot midpoint. The access road was a foot deep of snow and all hike a bike. Not worth doing it anymore until Spring! Once I reached Jackpot,it got worse! As I started my descent in the snow and wind debris, I came across probably three dozen downed trees, to climb over or around, before I joined up with Skyline again. It wasn’t a fun descent and some blockages were piles of trees! When the chainsaws come to clean all of this up, they will feel like they’re blazing new trail since the blockages are so extensive.

When I started down Lower Skyline, 75 yards in was another big blockage!

I was so tired from my Jackpot adventure, that I climbed back out of Skyline and returned to my truck using the access road. Rain started and my day came to an end. It wasn’t a very productive ride but very impressive weather damage. The trailforks ride log with pics is here.
