Come Visit the Reiter Foothills’ Trails
Today, I was looking to go to trails I’ve never been on but also try and explore the region around them if time permitted. While looking at the Trailforks reports for WA trails, the trails in the Reiter Foothills, northeast of the town of Gold Bar, caught my eye. Looking at the latest map, Medusa and Boogeyman trails were my goals. Then, due to its proximity, use the bike and hike to the top of Wallace Falls.
I parked at the 429th trailhead and climbed the Cramp On trail several times to descend Boogeyman, Medusa, and then up and did both again with the GoPro going. Video links are here for Medusa and Boogeyman if interested. Both trails are good and flow well. Medusa has a little more black tech options but is rated blue currently. Today’s soil was near hero and will be hero for you this weekend.
After the fun, I went on the rest of the trail system and saw the effects of the Bomb Cyclone of 2024. Trees were snapped off halfway up the trunks. It was impressive! Then I went farther up the logging roads to get to the top of Wallace Falls from the eastern side. You can get the bike within a quarter mile but you must hike the last quarter mile of easy, flat, brush to get to the bridge over the falls. Then I came back down to finish the blue option of Medusa and return to the truck. It was a great day and the Trailforks Ride Log with pictures is here.
