Descending with the Snowline

06 | Nov | '21

After Deep Creek and Corral Pass (5800'), then Alpine Baldy (5000') and this weekend's ride on Raging River (3400') , I have been going to lower summits to follow the snowline as the winter develops and covers our higher vertical for a while. Today at Raging River, there was 2" of snow in the clearing just before the top of No Service. A couple more days of cold rain in town and we might be done up high. The trails were wet but traction was good and the roots weren't as bad as I thought. Snow instead of rain started falling during the Raging Ridge 4 segment. There is a 15-20" trunk blown over the upper part of Raging Ridge 4 needing the big saws. It was a very dirty day but it was a great time.
