Fun and Flowy

I stopped in Yakima and rode Rocky Top.  Pretty easy to find but the directions are a little mis-leadiung so I had to look around a little harder for it once I got to Rocky Top Rd.  I ended up in the neighborhood just north of it at first.  From Downtown Yakima take Summit View Road and travel west for a few miles.  Turn Left at Rocky Top Rd at a business called Anderson Rock. Drive about 1000 yards straight back and you will see the trailhead.  I believe the directions say 250 yards.  No biggie I eventually found it.

The ride is a pretty easy and gradual up.  This is a good single track ride for all levels of rider and the view once you get to the top is great.  It is fun to ride Central and Eastern Washington because the landscape is so much different than Western WA.  I happend to tag along with a local who was very nice and I asked about Rattlesnakes.  He said he rides there all the time and has never seen one.  He says he thinks it is because of lack of water.   Speaking of water,  there are no spigots there so have your water already before you get there.

The descent is fast and flowy with lots of tight bermed turns.  You could lap it a couple times.  There are many well marked trails to choose from.  Be conscious that this is private property and respect where they don't want mt bikers.  There is a kiosk at the trailhead that has a pretty decent map to show you where you are allowed and not allowed.

The trail was dry and dusty but I understand even with lots of rain it doesn't get too muddy.  Some loose rock but overall a very ridable trail that I will hit again.
