Which camp is right for me?

Dirt Camps

Please read through each description carefully to determine the best camp for your young shredder. While we try to break into groups based on ability, your child will have the most enjoyable time if you find the right level. Still unsure? Feel free to reach out at

 

Camp Levels

Beginner: Level 1 - 2

Intermediate: Level 2 - 3

Advanced: Level 4 - 5

 

Level Descriptions

Level 1: 

  • Little to no time spent on dirt trails but atleast one year of bike riding experience
  • Brand new to mountain biking but comfortable on moderate grades while riding on the street
  • You are comfortable riding around the neighborhood on your bike but maybe not comfortable with steeper grades both ascending and descending. You can shift and brake well while riding but want to branch off riding on the streets and get your bike dirty on some mountain bike trails! 
  • Duthie Trails: Bootcamp, Honey Badger, Pump Track

Level 2: 

  • Less than a year riding a bike on dirt trails
  • Has been mountain biking a few times but haven't pushed yourself farther than most the greens and some blues at your local trailhead. 
  • You are comfortable with riding on both dirt trails and on the road at moderate grades. You've started to branch out from the easiest terrain at the local trailhead but are still feeling a bit nervous committing to all those blue trails and haven't started to do jumps or drops yet.
  • Duthie Trails (Confident Riding On): Bootcamp, Honey Badger, Pump Track, Deuces Wild, Movin On, Step it Up

Level 3: 

  • 1-3 years of experience riding a bike on mountain bike trails.
  • Has been mountain biking somewhat consistently for over a year, feels comfortable on most green and blue trails, you've also started doing drops less than a foot in size and some small table style jumps but aren't comfortable in the air yet.
  • Duthie Trails (Confident Riding On): Bootcamp, Honey Badger, Pump Track, Deuces Wild, Movin On, Step it Up, Lune Lines, Jabulani (2Hi)

Level 4:

  • 2-4 years of experience riding a bike on mountain bike trails.
  • Has been riding consistently for over 2 years and is comfortable hitting drops up to 2 feet tall. Also comfortable on most table top jumps and is starting to take interest in working on gap jumps. Confident overall bike handling skills.
  • Duthie Trails (Confident Riding On): Bootcamp, Honey Badger, Pump Track, Deuces Wild, Movin On, Step it Up, Luna Lines, Jabulani (2Hi), Voodoo, Top of Flying Squirrel

Level 5:

  • 3+ years of mountain bike riding experience.
  • Has been riding consistently for over 3 years and is comfortable hitting drops up to 3+ feet tall. Also comfortable on all table top jumps, smaller gap jumps, and is starting to take interest in working on larger gap jumps. Confident overall bike handling skills and knows their own riding limits. 
  • Duthie Trails (Confident Riding On): Bootcamp, Honey Badger, Pump Track, Deuces Wild, Movin On, Step it Up, Luna Lines, Jabulani (2Hi), Voodoo, Top of Flying Squirrel, Working on starting Gravy Train and or HLC

Level 6 (not currently offered through Evergreen camps or classes):

  • 5+ years of mountain bike riding experience.
  • Comfortable on all trails from green to black difficulty. An experienced and confident rider who is looking to push their riding to the highest level at the local trail head.
  • Duthie Trails (Confident Riding On): Bootcamp, Honey Badger, Pump Track, Deuces Wild, Movin On, Step it Up, Luna Lines, Jabulani (2Hi), Voodoo, Gravy Train, HLC, Flying Squirrel.
  • Someone riding at this ability is above Evergreen’s current offerings. You may make a great coach for our programs! Reach out to  if you're interested in a summer coaching job
