Duthie Fun Hr 1: Beginner Friendly Hr 2: Intermediate+ Freeride, Drops, Jumps
WHAT:
Hour 1: Beginner-friendly riding of the various trails at Duthie. A lap or 2 of Green Trail Boot Camp. Then Blue Trails Step It Up and Movin On. They have some roots and rocks you can roll over or dismount on, but they will be more heart pumping than Boot Camp.
Hour 2: Intermediate+ trails like Ryan's Eternal Flow, Voodoo Child, Jublani, Braveheart, and jump trails that have features that can be rolled or ridden around, with no forced jumps or gaps.
Parking is in either the new lot or the old lot, and we'll meet at table shelter in the clearing. Parking will definitely be an issue, so come early, and if you need to park on the side of a road, look for signage that indicates whether or not you can park there, and BE SAFE!
Bring a helmet, make sure your bike is in well-maintained condition, you have flat-fixing tools, and plenty of hydration and nutrition.
HOW TO FIND US:
Meet at the Table Shelter in the Clearing at 11:00 AM. 'll be wearing a green MTB Festival T Shirt and my cell is 206-851-0003
DETAILS:
Trails will be selected based on the lowest skill level of the group or groups. There will be some tips on cornering and body positioning, and some laps on Boot Camp to help with muscle memory. Then progressing difficulty in trail selection to practice it, all while keeping a social inclusive pace, and stops to rest and re-group.
TECHNICAL DIFFICULTY
GREEN CIRCLE (BEGINNER): Green circle events are great for members that are new to the sport and those folks looking for rides that won’t present lots of obstacles. Green trails are mostly smooth with very minor obstacles to overcome. Duthie Hill and Big Finn are two, great examples of MTB’ing trail systems that have plenty of green trails.
FITNESS-LEVEL
ONE-HEART (VERTICAL: LESS THAN 1,000 FT / DISTANCE: LESS THAN 10 MILES): Events with a single-heart rating require minimal cardio and endurance fitness levels, are usually lap trails like Duthie & Paradise Valley and the event will cover less than 10 miles in total distance. Single-heart trails also have minimal vertical climbing.
We can do more or less based on the group, but plan for fun social riding, and a workout that could range from slightly heart pumping to self-loathing.
