Chewelah - Gold Hill - Need help with NEW flow trail -- volunteers needed to hand-finish excavator dig
Help us build Stevens County's first flow trail!
The excavator is on the mountain digging what will be an amazingly fun trail!
Most nights the week of May 8th we'll need volunteers to help shape, pack and rake the berms and other features the excavator has dug earlier in the day. It's important we get this work done before the soil dries out after it's been dug/moved by the machine.
So come out for a short after-work party and help get this trail ready to ride!
Background on Gold Hill Community Forest - Gold Hill is a 400 acre community forest recently acquired by the Chewelah Valley Land Trust (CVLT) located just north of Chewelah (the north side of the Golf & Country Club) in Stevens County. Trails are in the early stages of development, so there will be everything from brushing, digging, raking to develop new trails to brush trimming and vegetation management on existing ones.
CVLT & Evergreen will have some tools on-site to get this job done—but if you have a favorite trail-building tool (e.g. shovel, rake, Rogue hoe, McCleod, or similar), please bring those along. Gloves, sturdy shoes/boots and safety/sun glasses strongly recommended.
Logistics:
- When: Meet at 5pm--stay for an hour, or feel free to work until sunset ;-)
- Where to meet: The Chewelah Community Forest parking lot ( https://goo.gl/maps/ZFViFhjrTeLRqFV3A) near the Chewelah Country Club golf course.
- What you should bring: Work gloves, eye protection, sturdy footwear, and your favorite trail-building tool l if you have one (don't forget sunscreen and water!)
We look forward to seeing you!
