Chewelah - Gold Hill Community Forest - Trail Building Work Party
Join us to create brand new mountain biking trails on Gold Hill (recently acquired by the Chewelah Valley Land Trust) and maintain and enhance the existing trails. Gold Hill is just north of the Chewelah (near the Golf & Country Club) in Stevens County. Trails are in the early stages of development... Thanks to a grant from Evergreen, we have an excavator on site digging a new climbing trail!
We need volunteers to help smooth out the rough spots left by the machine work while the dirt is still loose. So there will be some shoveling and a lot of raking and hoe work to buff out this trail and get it ready for an enjoyable, steady, low-angle climb up Gold Hill!
CVLT & Evergreen will have some tools on-site to get this job done—but if you have a rake or shovel, please bring those along. Gloves, sturdy shoes/boots and safety/sun glasses strongly recommended.
Background: Gold Hill (aka the Chewelah Community Forest) is an amazing 400 acre site with sweeping views of South Central Stevens County which recently acquired by the Chewelah Valley Land Trust (CVLT) who is working closely with the Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance to develop a network of multi-user trails on this property.
