Chewelah - Gold Hill (Chewelah Valley Land Trust) - New Trail Work Party!

This Saturday we'll focus on a roughed-in descending trail (informally known as "John's Trail")--our primary objective will be to dig out/saw down small stumps, roots and other hazards that are in main trail bed/tread. If we have enough folks, we'll also rake, shape and sculpt some of the sections that need attention (there are many) to make this trail flow-worthy!

Tools: CVLT & Evergreen will have tools on-site to get this job done—we have plenty of Rogue hoes/McCleods and loppers--we'll have one battery operated 'sawsall' reciprocating saw. If you have a favorite trail-building tool, bring it. Especially: shovels and sturdy rakes----also, we could probably use another battery powered sawsall (extra batteries and saw blades a plus!).

Background: Gold Hill (aka the Chewelah Community Forest) is an amazing 400 acre site with sweeping views of South Central Stevens County which recently acquired by the Chewelah Valley Land Trust (CVLT) who is working closely with the Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance to develop a network of multi-user trails on this property.

Join us to create brand new mountain biking trails on Gold Hill (recently acquired by the Chewelah Valley Land Trust) just north of the Chewelah (near the Golf & Country Club) in Stevens County. Trails are in the early stages of development, so there will be everything from scraping, digging, raking to sculp trails to brush trimming and vegetation management.

  • When: Saturday, April 30, 2022 – Meet at 9:00 AM work until noonish or so (stay for an hour, stay all day! it's up to you)
  • Where to meet: The new Chewelah Community Forest parking lot ( https://goo.gl/maps/ZFViFhjrTeLRqFV3A) just north of the Chewelah Country Club golf course.
  • What you should bring: Work gloves, sturdy footwear, and your favorite trail-building tool l if you have one (don't forget sunscreen and water!)

We look forward to seeing you!!
