BDOS dig day
Black Diamond Open Space (BDOS) DIG DAYS
Join us for our trail maintenance series at BDOS in Maple Valley.
The 1,240-acre forested Black Diamond Open Space (BDOS) is located two miles north of Black Diamond and six miles south of Maple Valley, and is a popular destination for mountain bikers and hikers alike. This special park contains portions of a protected migratory corridor called the Wildlife Habitat Network. It also contains streams, peat bogs, and wetlands.
After a few months of increased ridership and decreased maintenance, there's lot to do to keep the well-loved trails at BDOS running in tip top shape. We're exicted to throw some dirt along side you again, and give back to the trails we know and love so well!
It's recommended that you bring a small cable lock to lock up your bike while working. We usually step away from the main clearing as we work on the trails, and while I'd love to say your bike is secure with us on the trail or on your vehicle, it's nice to have the extra security of a lock.
There's a lot that goes into keeping these well-loved community trails in tip top shape. Work parties usually involve lots of cutting back overgrown brush, clearing drains, and making basic repairs to the trail tread. Whether it's your first, or one-hundredth work party, we got you!
We'll be meeting at 9am before heading into the work site. The meeting location will be at the main parking BDOS parking lot, located here: https://goo.gl/maps/QXrRbJtfdxQHrwcg6
