Recent Maintenance at Duthie Hill

We have been busy at Duthie over the past few months, with maintenance and rebuilds across several trails and shared areas.

What’s Been Updated

Our builders and volunteers have been working on Luna Lines, Flying Squirrel, Jabulani, Double Trouble, and Paramount, along with upgrades in the central clearing, including refreshed wood features and six new picnic tables.

Luna jump lines are nearly complete. The left line is fully rebuilt, the middle line is nearly finished, and the far right line will eventually be updated with aMTB-accessible drops. The goal was to make Luna a better progression into Gravy Train, with improved flow and a safer, more rideable finish feature. This refresh was led by one of our ambassadors, Kevin Loper. Thank you, Kevin! We are excited to have this progression zone updated before our education season begins.

Jabulani has been rebuilt top to bottom and is close to reopening. Volunteer Matt (“Cheese”) has led much of that effort, with support from Evergreen staff and other volunteers.

On HLC, the super volunteers of the Dirt Wizards crew did a full refresh/rebuild of the upper HLC section last spring, and a new drop feature was installed. Fall of 2025 we began the construction of an all new 2nd half of the trail to replace the storm damaged Happy Ending feature. The entirely new section will contain 4 new features and the plan is to open it in the next few weeks!

Next up is Flying Squirrel, where the top section (first four jumps and berms) will be refreshed.

We finished general maintenance and drainage clearing around the park as well. After the windstorm last week, King County had to close the park for a few days as sawyers went in to clear fallen trees and debris. The park is now clear and ready to ride.

Community-Led Work: Thank You, Volunteers!

Both Luna and Jabulani started as ideas from within the community—Kevin Loper (Cascades to Sound Chapter Ambassador) and Matthew Kalm (Sweetlines coach). Evergreen staff worked alongside volunteers to bring those ideas to life. Huge thanks to these super volunteers.

This work has been a team effort, with trail crew and volunteers contributing everything from dirt work to shaping and finishing.

What’s Next

Crews are continuing drainage work on Boot Camp and finishing touches on Jabulani as we get ready for Duthie Jam.

Crews are preparing the park for Duthie Jam on June 13th. Bootcamp is getting a refresh which should be done in the next week. The next big project is Paramount jump line, including a rebuild of the start ramp.

Join a Work Party!

This progress wouldn’t be possible without the help of our volunteers! Check out our calendar and sign up for a work party.
