Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance is very excited to announce our new women’s riding group--the Evergreen Crank Sisters--which officially launched at the Sweetlines Chick Flicks event on May 27th.  This women-only riding group is the result of hard work and collaborative efforts by local women mountain bikers from the Sturdy B’s, Fanatik Hot Flashes, Fischer Plumbing, Washington Student Cycling League, Muddbunnies, and Evergreen Instructors.

The Evergreen Crank Sisters is an all-levels women’s riding group focused on expanding the welcoming community of female riders through group rides, trail building, and events.

"Our objectives are to help women achieve their riding goals and increase the number of women mountain biking." said Katie Newhall, Crank Sisters Committee Chair "while a minority of mountain bikers are female, Evergreen's current membership is actually 30% female--and we'd like to see the representation of women in the sport continue to grow."

The Crank Sisters will provide more opportunities for women to ride together in a fun and supportive environment.  Weekly beginner and intermediate Crank Sister group rides are posted on Evergreen’s Events calendar, and all group outings are led by trained ride leaders (who are also a fun bunch of ladies!).  If you or someone you know is looking to try out the sport--or are looking for a supportive group to ride with at any level or speed--check out the calendar and join the Crank Sisters for a ride!

Initially, Crank Sisters will host group rides focused in the Seattle area.  Future plans include expansion to other Evergreen Chapters, which will provide opportunities for collaborative rides and events with Crank Sisters across the state!

The Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance is very excited about the formation of Crank Sisters, which is an all-levels women’s riding group focused on creating a welcoming community for women through group rides, trail building and events.
