Early Season Trail Progress Across Washington
March 2026
As our trail work season ramps up, Evergreen builders and volunteers are already making big progress across the state. From refreshing berms to repairing storm damage and building new lines, the past few weeks have been busy on the trails!
None of this work happens without the dedication of our trail builders and volunteers. Here is a look at some of the recent projects happening across Evergreen chapters.
Central Chapter: Storm Recovery at Ski Hill
In Central WA, the Central Chapter has been focused on storm recovery at Ski Hill in Leavenworth following the severe December storm that caused widespread trail damage with hundreds of downed trees. Trail builders and volunteers logged out Rosie Boa earlier this month. We will soon shift our attention to logging out Ribbed and Freund as restoration work continues throughout the system.

Cascades to Sound: Raging River Trail E Build, and Duthie Maintenance
Work continues to move forward at Raging River, where the Cascades to Sound Chapter is actively building the new Trail E descent trail; plus continuing maintenance on existing trails.
Thanks to the help of volunteers, we recently finished berms on the upper section and are now roughing in the lower section of the trail. Trail E and C descent trails are slated to open in fall 2026 as part of Raging River Phase 4.

At Duthie Hill, maintenance work is underway across several of the park’s most-loved trails. Our builders and volunteers are working on sections of Jabulani, Luna Lines, Flying Squirrel, Double Trouble, and Paramount to keep the riding smooth and sustainable.
There are also improvements happening in the clearing, including refreshed wood features and six new picnic tables, making it an even better gathering space for riders and families. Next up, we're clearing drains on Boot Camp in preparation for Duthie Jam on June 13.

East Chapter: Refreshing Trails at Beacon Hill
We just kicked off trail work season in the East Chapter with a big work party on Master Blaster at Beacon Hill. With more than 20 volunteers showing up for the afternoon, and a rare stretch of sunshine, the crew got to work refreshing several berms along the trail. Now we’ve got smoother, more durable turns that will keep this classic riding great through the coming season.

Methow Chapter: Work Starts Next Week in Winthrop
The Methow Chapter is gearing up to kick off its first work party of the season next week at Kiwanis Activity Park in Winthrop, just across the street from Methow Cycle and Sport. Volunteers will be putting the finishing touches on a brand new pump track that was started last fall, helping pack and shape the surface so it is ready to ride for the upcoming season. We will be using a plate compactor and lots of shovels to dial in the final details. Later in April we'll host a Methow Chapter Trail School for a 2-day course on trail maintenance; held in Winthrop out of the Methow Trails Headquarters.

Southwest Chapter: Rebuilding Sixth Sense at Yacolt Burn
Down in the Yacolt Burn State Forest, the Southwest Chapter Board and volunteers have been putting in serious time on Sixth Sense. Crews were working nearly every day over the past couple of weeks to clean up and reshape sections of trail affected by recent logging activity.
Machine and hand work has just wrapped up, with a few finishing touches left after the rain subsides.

South Sound Chapter: Reopening Trek at Tehaleh and Refreshing Trails at BDOS and Swan Creek
The Trek at Tehaleh mountain bike trail system in Bonney Lake reopened for the season on March 1! At Swan Creek, we recently completed a two-week build on a new trail in collaboration with Parks Tacoma. The first day the new trail was open coincided with the Bell Lap race, adding 700 feet of trail to the route. We plan to continue adding to this trail, including adding wood features with the assistance of the Eagle Scouts.
General maintenance is ongoing at Swan Creek and Black Diamond Open Space. Additionally, we have secured a new maintenance contract for Wards Lake, and work parties will soon be starting there.

West Sound Chapter: Cleaning Up Port Gamble Ride Park
At Port Gamble, builders and volunteer crews have been working through every weekend to bring the tech zone back to life after the logging in late 2025. It’s been a big cleanup and revival mission; clearing debris, dialing features, and restoring the techy goodness this zone is known for.
Thank You to Our Volunteers!
From maintenance to new trail construction, these projects represent hundreds of volunteer hours already invested in Washington’s mountain bike trails.
If you want to be part of the work that keeps these trails running, keep an eye on the Evergreen events calendar and join an upcoming trail work party near you.
