Read below for a detailed overview of our 2017 legislative priorities.  THANK YOU for your ongoing and unwavering supportin making Washington the best place to ride!

Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP)

Support the full $120 million (Capital) budget request for the Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP).  The WWRP provides the largest amount of recreation funding in our State and is critical to continued funding of bike, hike and equestrian trails.  Implemented by the highly effective WA Wildlife and Recreation Coalition, this funding will support new mountain bike trails at Raging River State Forest!

Department of Natural Resources

Support the Washington Department of Natural Resources’ requests of $8.1 million (Capital) for the Sustainable Recreation program and $948k (Operating) and $4.5 million (Capital) for the Natural Areas program.

DNR has become a strong partner of Evergreen and has become a leader in building mountain bike trails.  Ask your legislators to support full funding of DNR’s capital and operating budgets to continue the agency’s lead in finding balance between working forests, outdoor recreation, and conservation. Funding of DNR’s budget means continued maintenance as well as new trails at Tiger Mountain, Raging River, Green Mountain, and the Middle Fork of the Snoqualmie River.  We need this investment for maintenance of all current popular mountain bike trails on DNR land!

Washington State Parks

Support Washington State Parks’ ask of $174.5 million (Operating) and $96.5 million (Capital) budgets.  Help us voice strong support for critical State Parks funding to tackle a $500 million maintenance backlog and to support key new capital projects.  State Parks funding supports riding destinations like the new Olallie State Park trail, Moran State Park on Orcas Island, and Squilchuck State Park in Wenatchee.

Teanaway Community Forest

Secure $775,773 (Operating budget request) and $1.5 million (Capital budget request) to ensure people are able to access and enjoy the Teanaway Community Forest. The 50,000 acre Teanaway Community Forest represents a new model of public/private partnerships state to partner with communities to conserve the forests they love and manage them to ensure the protection of the landscape’s environmental, economic and social benefits.

No Child Left Inside

Fund $2.2 million (Operating) for this important program that provides invaluable grants to Washington state outdoor education and recreation programs for youth.

Protect Mountain Bike and Multi-Use Non-Motorized Trails and Trailheads

Voice your support to make Washington state THE BEST PLACE TO RIDE and help protect our public lands and trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding.  Tell your legislatures about opportunities in your communities, and how they can help make them a reality. Together we will make a difference on February 22!!
