How much of a trail is this, really?

While riding up Northway last July we decided to explore the beginning of Old Northway which we had read about here and from another report. We followed the beginning of the "trail" for a few minutes and found it to be the faintest goat path imaginable. The underbrush is more disturbed than other areas, which I guess makes it a trail. I'm sure you can follow it all the way down somehow as others describe, and perhaps the lower sections are better, but this is not a trail in the same way as any other defined trails that I've mountain biked on. I've never heard of anyone else riding these, even a few local to the area. I don't mean to discourage anyone else from exploring, but know what to expect!
