Snowing Ash in Mukilteo

16 | Oct | '22

I've been away in LA for a week on a non-mtb trip so I went to the Gulch this morning at 7am to get a early ride in before the heat and ash made it uncomfortable. I made two runs down combining Boyz/Orion/Mukraker and then a full Boyz run. There are dry and sandy places until we get the rains, but it is still running well. The sun was glistening off of the larger ash particulates from the Hwy 2 fires and you could feel the difference in your throat after the ride. When I got back to the truck, there was a dusting of ash on the windshield along with the normal optical reflections (see image, misleads actual particle size! They were much smaller).  It was still a nice morning ride.
