Beautiful meadow and a little smoke

05 | Aug | '18

I parked at the trailhead around 6:30 in the morning and started up the road to discover the current progress of the summit meadow traverse. The views were a little hazy, but take away the smoke, and the views are beautiful! The upper half of the road is getting contoured for more fun on the decent and the ride across the meadow is memorable. From the end of the road, near the old base camp, a wonderful climbing trail sends you up the other 5-600 vertical to the traverse. It is a fun ride back down. The soils in the fern meadow traverse are loose, and don't pack well, so stay away from the edge to avoid eroding what wonderful traverse cutting work has been done. Bugs were out in force everytime I stopped so prepare accordingly.  Enjoy my track and pics here, enjoy the benches located for your relaxation, and come visit a Highway 2 jewel soon.   :-)
