Super fun times

Trail was in excellent condition.  Lots of small stream crossings, one with wet feet for sure, probably more depending on whether you are ok with rock hopping.  Downed tree removal doesn't seem to be prioritized on this trail, so there were quite a few places where we had to dismount to step over or under logs.  Trail description that says "steep punchy climbs require dismounting" is accurate.  Many short technical pitches that aren't rideable. But also lots of fun technical challenges that *are* rideable.  Definitely on and off the bike a lot, but the time spent riding was super fun.  One steeper section about 6.5-7 miles in, but then it leveled out again; overall trail is rolling terrain. Since this was a Saturday, we encountered quite a few hikers in the first few miles of trail, but not many after that, and they were all cool.  A work party was replacing one of the footbridges, with apparent plans for another.  We reached the end of the trail at 8.1 miles in (2 hours after leaving the trailhead) - waterfall crossing with many downed trees was impassable with the water flow, and the trail was not visible on the far side, buried under more downed trees.  Exploration might be possible after water flows subside substantially.

Note that Middle Fork Road is now smooth new pavement all the way to the trailhead, contrary to directions on some sites.
