General

Abandoned double track trail.  This lower section of a longer double track epic is called"No Country For Old Men" and is 9.0 miles one way.

This abandoned double track can be done in sections or ridden end to end depending on level of adventure desired.

There is a Green dot road connector between the two sections that use Old Durr Rd, it is 1.1 miles for a total of ~18 miles done as a whole.

North section (Break on Through to the Other Side) works as an out and back for some great views of the upper Umptanum Creek area.
South section works as an out and back but has a nasty climb out of the river area.
It affords great views above.

Locals do car drops or get shuttled to the northwest end (Umptanum) then ride to the river. Could be done as pavement, gravel, double track, pavement epic. Park somewhere in Ellensburg, ride Umptanum Rd out then hook up to the trail and hit the river then pedal back to town via the scenic hwy 821 (Yakima Canyon Rd.).translate
