Summary of Position

Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance's Central Chapter is seeking an Education Coordinator to support the daily logistics of the Central education program. This hybrid position will include customer service, volunteer management, on-site teaching, day-to-day operations, and logistics. On an as-needed basis, this role will support other events and program needs in the education program. Candidates must live locally in the Leavenworth / Wenatchee region. Ideal Candidate


The ideal candidate must be passionate about Evergreen’s mission and vision to make Washington State the best place to ride. We are looking for a multitasker who enjoys working on diverse tasks and can manage staff while providing excellent customer service. The candidate must be comfortable working independently, with tight deadlines, and in both field and computer work. Reliable transportation is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage a seasonal schedule of educational classes, including youth dirt camps and adult clinics.
  • Provide prompt and courteous customer support via phone and email.
  • Oversee instructors and daily programming, including staff and schedule management, timesheet approvals, and provide feedback and manage conflict as it arises.
  • Maintain the chapter van, trailer, and bike fleet in good working order. Keep clear records of any maintenance to the van/trailer and bikes.
  • Lead and manage volunteer instructor appreciation and recruitment efforts.
  • Lead and manage paid instructors' recruitment efforts.
  • Provide on-site logistical support as needed, including delivering supplies or teaching programs.
  • Lead the following community education events with support from the chapter, including planning, marketing, volunteer recruitment and management, and day-of support.
    • Central Kids Race (Annually in July)
    • Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day (First Sunday of October)
  • Assist in building relationships, planning programming, in coordination with the Central Board, draft and implement Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) with local organizations (such as local schools, YMCA, WRI, etc).
  • Be able to perform minor bike and equipment repairs for clients and staff.
  • Provide general Education Program support when requested.
  • Participate in planning sessions and other work-related instructor training and class offerings.
  • Operate professionally and independently to find creative solutions as challenges arise.
  • Hold to the highest priority the safety and security of all participants and fellow employees.
  • Provide a prompt, courteous, and professional representation of Evergreen.
  • Deliver updates to the Central Board on a monthly basis from March to September.

Required Skills / Qualifications

  • Experience in training and teaching mountain bike skills to instructors and riders.
  • Passion for youth outdoor experiences.
  • Competent mountain bike skills with the stamina to ride 4-5 hours a day.

Employment Requirements

  • 21 years or older.
  • Two years minimum of mountain bike riding experience and have access to a bike.
  • Two years of teaching and coaching experience preferred.
  • Have reliable transportation to work locations.
  • A willingness to work evenings and weekends when requested.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite.
  • Must have current First Aid and CPR certification. Advanced first aid is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and reliable personal vehicle.
  • A clean background check.

As a lean non-profit organization with a small team, additional duties may be assigned beyond those listed above, depending on the organization's needs. Hours are flexible, with evening and weekend work.

 

Reports to: Kristen McCune, Statewide Education Director

Primary Location: This position will be approximately 40% on-site and 60% remote. Candidates must live locally in the Leavenworth / Wenatchee region. On-site work will primarily be at Ski Hill in Leavenworth, Squilchuck State Park in Wenatchee, and middle and elementary school sites in Wenatchee. Administrative work can be done remotely. Other travel locations throughout the state may be required.

Anticipated Hours: Peak season (April thru September): 25-35hrs / week; Shoulder Seasons (February, March & October): 5-10hrs/week. Options may be available to take on additional hours through teaching and / or chapter-related administrative and event tasks for those interested. Evening and weekend work required.

Hours/Classification: Non-Exempt. Hourly. Max 40 hours/week. Peak season (April thru September): 20-30hrs / week; Shoulder Seasons (February, March & October: up to 5hrs/week.

Compensation Range: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour, depending on experience.
