Beautiful view during one of our wettest months

New trail to the site. I went out to Alger yesterday morning early and parked at the Park and Ride lot off of exit 240 east of I-5. After getting ready I went north on Lake Sammish Rd and took a left at Nulle Road. At 3.1 miles from the P&R lot, you'll come to the gate for the fire road part of this PNW trail segment. Follow your map and fire road until it ends at the start of the single track and proceed through a couple wet sections and creek eroded trail sections to another fire road which takes you to the beginning of the British Army trail about 6 miles. I lost reliable use of my lower chain ring a little earlier in the ride and these steeper sections turned into more hike a bike but the trail was very nice and an enjoyable exploration. I took the bike up to the Oyster Dome view point but visibility was 1000 feet and 20 knot winds. I took the picture so I can photoshop in my mind what the view looks like. I continued on to the Sammish Overlook and saw the view I was hoping for an hour before at the Dome. The winds had cleared out the fog and the San Juans and Samish Bay were gorgeous. From the Overlook, you continue down the long switchbacks down to Chuckanut Drive or Hwy 11. From there you head South on the road to Colony Road which takes you back to the P&R lot and your car. There is a long, steady, up hill on Colony you need to endure on your way back to the car but its doable without the lower chain ring. It was a great ride and the rain held off until I started my car back at the lot! Then it gushed!  Track and pics here.
