Team Epic Members Lay First Tracks on Raging River
On June 1, several Team Epic members joined staff for an exclusive tour/feedback ride on sections of the new Raging River trail system (another preview is scheduled for later in June).
While the system currently remains closed as trail builders work to meet the project grand opening this summer trail staff invited Team Epic members to get a sneak peek and provide feedback on the trail’s new features.
Backed by dramatic fog (blocking some of the amazing views), Trails Director Mike Westra gave informative talks about the progress and design of the project during the ascent. Board Secretary Peter Sherill then took over, guiding participants through some of the new XC trail, several climbs, and a number of berm-filled descents.
The approved plan of Raging River Phase 1 consists of 15 miles of brand new trail in a lollipop formation, giving mountain bikers a 20-mile ride with over 4000 feet of elevation gain. Currently, Evergreen builders have finished the ridge trail (8 1/2 miles to the top of Rattlesnake Mountain), and are completing two trails heading down off the top, as well as a climbing trail looping back to the ridge.
Evergreen is thankful for the financial support that our members and Team Epic members provide—you make all this happen!
