I-5 Colonnade Update, April 2024

The I-5 Colonnade – the City of Seattle's first-ever urban mountain bike skills park (and one of the first in the nation!) that we designed and built nearly two decades ago starting in 2005 and debuting in 2007.

Well, we are here now with some BRAKING NEWS about the Colonnade project. We're bringing it back, one step at a time, focusing on making the park more accessible, safer, and more fun for riders of all skill levels. Our first priority is getting the asphalt pump track in place.

After the Eastlake Community Council’s Colonnade Improvement Planning Project, we are excited to make this rebuild happen together and create a hub for riders of all ages and families especially in the local urban communities.

Here's a breakdown of our progress and status:

- We began seeking funds for the project in 2018 and have since secured all the funding needed for the asphalt track. This includes grants from the King County Youth Athletic Fund, IMBA major donor grant, and support from multiple Evergreen major donors (THANK YOU!)

- Work began with volunteer efforts in the summer of 2020, with volunteers and users rallying to clean up the park and fix old features. This grew into creating new beginner to intermediate-friendly jump lines, setting the stage for the exciting developments to come.

- The track was designed by Jeremy Bushnell, a former pro BMX rider and current Evergreen trail builder/designer, in mid-2023. We received approval from WSDOT in January 2024 and are currently working on securing permits from the City of Seattle.

- Now, the next step to bringing these plans to life is for you all to come show your support at the Colonnade on Wednesday, April 10! We're having a work party from 2:00-5:30pm to clean up the site of the future asphalt pump track. Then, at 5:30pm, Seattle Parks and Recreation and our Evergreen MTB staff will be presenting the pump track plan to the neighbors and general public.

Sign up for the work party here: https://www.evergreenmtb.org/calendar/eventdetail/21729/i-5-colonnade-maint-work-party-followed-by-pump-track-public-meeting

Let us know you can join the 5:30pm public meeting by signing up here: https://www.evergreenmtb.org/calendar/eventdetail/21731/i-5-colonnade-future-pump-track-public-meeting

We're incredibly grateful for the support of our community, volunteers, and donors who have made this project possible. Stay tuned for more updates as we work to bring the vision of a new and improved Colonnade to life!
