Ride Reports

Went out to the Lake Sylvia trails for the first time today. Rode north up the Brownie Trail, to Sylvia Ridge, then headed west to the Jungle Trail - until the recent clearcut demolished the trail. It was just at the point where it would have been...

Drought & Wind

06 | 22 | '18

Rad day at Xan!  No water anywhere though, and trails are bone dry and breaking up in the cruxes.  Overall though, this trail is built so well that it’s still riding great, and will be self-healing with a little 🌧

Unfortuna...

Slippery When Wet

06 | 27 | '18

Only had time for the abridged standard: ML, QL, ETS, OTG, FR, JR, NWT.  Found a surprising number of puddles on the ascent, and even more from the top down. Where the water wasn’t pooling, trail tread was mostly 👍🏼. However, with the regular...

Nice Ride-nice weather

06 | 26 | '18

Temps in the 70's and sunny -- perfect weather.  Did the loop and sidetrip on the GPX download from the Navigation page - totaled out to about 20 miles and 2,300+ vertical.  If you haven't ever ridden there expect some good climbs, some...

Instant Classic

This is a great trail with some nice trail segments that are seperate uphill and downhill. Lot's of up before the down. Thanks Evergreen!

Today was super nice out and a little warm. Took about three hours for me and my buddy to make it to...

We rode Olallie for the first time today and agree with KentKangley, great bottom, more work on top.  We did not get to the end but made it to the only question mark on the route, which is the y where the uphill trail goes to Mt. Washington.&...

Like other posts have decried, this trail is really over grown and that is no exaggeration ! The last mile and a half mile was impassable. It’s sad that this trail has been neglected for several years.

It is super beautiful and is an aweso...

Rocky road

06 | 23 | '18

Did the short ride today, out and around to the logging road for the finish back to the parking spot.  Trail very rough, many rocks on trail, some of them too large to ride over.  Portions of the trail were very overgrow, difficult to de...

A yearly thing

06 | 15 | '18

I usually ride this at least once every year.  This year I am a little late but I wanted to wait for the creeks to be done with the Spring thaw flow.  Tired of getting wet feet at the first or second creek crossing.  Today all the c...

Still good

06 | 13 | '18

With the huge clear cut in the middle, it’s true that much of the old standard is gone. However, some great forest singletrack remains, especially around the perimeter. Many of these trails aren’t getting too much use lately, and are taking on a m...

Tick Warning

06 | 09 | '18

Trails were great. Rosie Boa was a bit dusty. Did 2 loops: Rosie Boa and Fruend. Beware ticks as 2 out of us 5 riders got them.

Overall, this trail is indeed as challenging as advertised but the lower and upper sections are like two sisters who you just wonder how they could be from the same family. The lower section is a beautiful masterpiece of thoughtful trail building....

Wow!

06 | 02 | '18

Rode up Upward Mobility and Raging Ridge to the Rainier view spot (stage 6).  I'm in my late 40's and not in peak shape so I was glad to see that this trail has a very reasonable ascent with very scenic forest and valley views on the way up.&...

Alert - closed?

06 | 01 | '18

Not strictly a ride report, as I haven't been out on site in person, but since I've lost my edit privileges to this site I can only post alerts in this fashion.  According to the WTA website and hike reports, a major landslide has closed MF S...

Beware of cougar

05 | 27 | '18

Husband and relatives riding on Mission Creek Road on their way to Devil's Gulch TH spotted a cougar sitting in the grass along the side of the road less than a quarter mile from the TH.  Not agressive but would not move out of the area for 1...

Down but not out

05 | 30 | '18

My first bigger ride back at Tolt since the Big Clearcut: it's true that much of the trails (along with the forest) in the center are gone.  However, some sylvan singltrack remains around the perimeter (especially on the north end), and a com...

North side a bit dry

05 | 26 | '18

Had a great time starting from the North side at the park's parking lot. Headed up to the top of SST via a couple roads, Cougar and Cabin. The dry May was evident on the trails and the clearings were worn. The trails are wonderful and still plenty...

Lots of Rain

05 | 19 | '18

It rained the whole way up. I rode 3/4 of the way to Mt. Washington crossing. The trail was very wet and had small puddles, which caused me to fall going uphill (In a small downhill section). Once you complete the switchbacks in the forest area, t...

It was all good, and in great condition - but watch out for ticks!  My riding partner picked up a couple of them on this trail.  Some repellent might be a good idea.
