Take your bikepacking to the next level with this rugged, intermediate overnighter to Rock Island Campground! Join local bikepacker and Evergreen coach, Rob Campbell to build skills that will enable you to ride in more remote locations over mixed terrain. The event will start at 10am at Icicle River Middle School, travel ~30 miles and 2500ft over mixed terrain, camp at Rock Island CG, and return to Leavenworth the following day.
Class Focus:
- Refine your packing and gear-carry setup
- Learn tips for becoming self-sufficient in remote settings
- Bike handling skills on pavement, gravel and singletrack with a loaded bike
- Camp setup best practices
- Locating water sources
- Campfires
- Setting up and re-packing efficiently
Prerequisites: Attendance of the "Intro to Bikepacking: Classroom" and Intro to "Bikepacking: Beginner Overnighter" sessions are highly encouraged. Must be an intermediate level rider comfortable riding mixed surfaces for 3-4 hours at a time. Must have some camping experience and be prepared to camp with minimal ameneties (vault toilet and water spigot only).
Students are responsible for supplying their own bike and all camping and bikpacking equipment.
