n \n Check out this great article in Craft MTN (ht
 tps://craftmtb.com/features/change-horizon) magazi
 ne about the Kettlefest a few years ago!\n \n \n J
oin Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance Statewide Sta
ff and the Evergreen East chapter for 5 days of ep
ic riding and camping at Kettle Crest in Colville
National Forest! If you can't join for the entire
time\, come for as long as works for you. Folks wi
th kids\, the campground is a great spot for the l
ittle ones to ride around.\n \n \n Enjoy some of W
ashington’s best backcountry singletrack in a remo
te\, alpine setting. In an annual tradition\, ride
rs from all across the region including Seattle\,
 Spokane\, Coeur d'Alene\, Bellingham\, and B.C. co
nverge to hang out\, experience awesome trails and
give back to the area with a day devoted to trail
work. Most of the rides have a healthy dose of cl
imbing\, but there are lots of great ride options\
, so come join us for another awesome year at Kett
le Crest!\n \n \n More details to follow\, but we'
ll plan to do one full day of trail work on Saturd
ay\, swapping stories around the campfire over a c
old beer and\, of course\, and riding some epic al
pine singletrack.\n \n \n Please note there is no
cell phone service at the campground or where we w
ill be riding. Group rides will be leaving around
9 am - 10am each morning (this varies based on wha
t folks are feeling). Note: the groups rides are n
ot scheduled (9am is just the usual time people te
nd to start gearing up to go out and ride)\, the f
 ormat is very casual. \n \n \n  \n \n Directions:
\n \n We'll be camping at the Jungle Hill Campgrou
 nd (https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/colville/recar
ea/?recid=67992)\, which is between the towns of R
epublic and Kettle Falls. Feel free to use any emp
ty site when you arrive. Depending on how many fol
ks show up we may have to squeeze a couple folks i
nto the larger sites\, or if you have a camper/van
/trailer\, their is plenty of space below the camp
ground where the community area will be set up.\n
 \n \n  \n \n What to bring:\n \n \n A willingness
to get dirty!\n Camping Equipment (or van/camper)
 - \n \n Tent\, pad\, sleeping bag\, light\, chair\
 , warm clothing\, and water filter\n \n \n Water\,
food\, snacks and a pack to haul it in.\n \n Ther
e is no potable water at the campsite so bring all
you will need or a water filter for the creek if
you'd like (warning: steep hill/trail to and from
camp to creek)\n \n \n Work boots or tough hiking
 boots (sturdy footwear)\n Rain gear\, layers\, wor
k attire aka: clothes that look superb when dirty!
\n Safety glasses and work gloves if you have them
\n A warm change of clothes after a fun filled day
 \n \n  \n \n Evergreen will provide:\n \n \n All t
he tools\n Work gloves if you would like them\n A
few snacks if you need them\n \n Ride options\n \n
Note: Ebikes are not permitted on the Kettle Cres
t or surrounding area trails\, so bring your analo
g bike.\n \n \n While our ride schedule is usually
made ad-hoc\, here's a sample schedule of what Ke
ttleFest usually looks like (note this is not an a
 ccurate schedule\, just an example):\n \n \n Jungl
 e Hill\n \n \n Easy Option: 10 miles\, 1300 ft. cl

campground with about 1300ft of climbing to get u
p to Sherman Pass. After climbing on the Kettle Cr
est there is an optional detour to Columbia Mounta
in which has an awesome 360-degree view. For the e
asy option\, riders can turn around after Columbia
Mountain and descend all the way back to the camp
ground. Otherwise\, riders will continue climbing
and descending along the Kettle Crest until the to
p of Jungle Hill where the payoff awaits….\n \n \n
Old Stage to Midnight Ridge to Kettle Crest to Ju

Up and over Copper Butte (elev. ~7100') around Sc

scent to Jungle Hill and the Jungle Hill Campgroun
 d. Views go for miles when up on the Crest.\n \n \
 n Upper/Lower Taylor Ridge\n \n Another full day o
f riding. Those intersted in making the drive out
to Taylor Ridge (about 1 hour) can go out to do th
at. Taylor Ridge is a 18 mile ride with 2\,600ft o
f climbing and 5\,600ft of descending. Those that
want to stay nearer to camp can do another varieat
ion of the rides listed above.\n \n \n Republic Sk
ills Park\n \n Have younger kids who just want to
ride features? Take the short drive to Republic to
their mountain bike skills park located right off
