We offer a full range of co-ed Adult classes for beginner to advanced mountain bikers. Unless otherwise noted, the minimum age for adult classes is 18 years old. You can also check out our 1-day Downhill Clinic at Stevens Pass Bike Park on our Clinics page.

MTB Foundations Level 1

Adult

Are you new to mountain biking? Or do you need to brush up on your skills? MTB Foundations is the place to start building your confidence on 2 wheels. Minimum Age: 14

This class will focus on:

  • Learning body position and balance
  • Proper braking
  • Climbing and descending techniques
  • Gearing and shifting
  • Approaching obstacles/front wheel lift

MTB Foundations Level 2

Evergreen’s MTB Foundations level 2 caters to the intermediate rider looking to increase confidence on more technical trails. While Foundations Level 1 is a highly recommended prerequisite, experienced students are always welcome to join. Minimum Age: 14

This class will focus on:

  • Review of body position, balance,  braking and descending
  • Cornering
  • Obstacle Clearance
  • Trail skills including roll downs and berms
  • Approaching jumps and drops

A Co-ed ride series for experienced riders seeking to improve their skills and become stronger, more confident trail riders. Each class (4 in total) focuses on 2-3 skills - in depth - while out on the trails. Riders will receive feedback and guidance from our experienced instructors in a relaxed and fun setting while getting plenty of trail time. Minimum Age: 14

This class will focus on:

  • Review balance, body position, braking, descending
  • Climbing, slow speed cornering, shifting
  • Trail skills including roll downs and berms
  • High-speed cornering
  • Obstacle clearing

Intro to Freeride - Co-ed

2 part series

Want to start pushing the limits of what you can ride? Want to go big on the jumps and carve berms with ease? This co-ed class covers the basics of freeride mountain biking. This class will cover the first step to being a more confident rider when it comes to cornering, speed, and air! Minimum Age: 14

This class will focus on:

  • Review balance, body position, braking, descending, and proper drop techniques
  • Obstacle clearing/wheel lift
  • High-speed cornering
  • Progressing to bigger drops and jumps (Air time!)

Intro to Downhill - Including a Day at Stevens Pass

Adult

Intro to downhill is a 4-part series covering the skills needed to become a strong downhill rider. Participants progress through increasingly challenging terrain with confidence. Working with both Evergreen instructors and finishing with guest instructor Simon Lawton. Minimum Age: 16

This class is designed for the solid intermediate to advanced rider who is newer to the downhill scene.

This class will focus on:

  • Review balance, body position, braking, descending, and proper drop techniques
  • Review high-speed cornering
  • Passive and active obstacle clearing
  • Doing large drops and jumps (Big air time!)
  • Practice skills based on analysis from classes 1-3 with guest instructor Simon Lawton at Stevens Pass

To participate riders must meet the following qualifications listed below. Please email Dan Bassett if you have questions.

  • Riding: Minimum 2yrs of advanced technical riding
  • Local Trails: Tiger - OTG, Predator (able to get down but cannot ride all obstacles); Tokul Crazy Ivan, Flow Tron; Duthie 2 hi, Voodoo Child, Gravy Train.
  • Whistler: B-Line, Crank It Up, Heart of Darkness, Ho Chi Min
  • Skills: Technical trails without getting off the bike, can do small drops (1-2-foot) easily, comfortable lifting your front wheel over obstacles.

Schedule:

  • Classes 1 and 2 (July 11th, July 18th) - 2 hours Duthie Hill
  • Class 3 (July 25th) - 3 hours Tiger Mountain - Shuttle included
  • Class 4 (July 30th) - 4 hours Stevens Pass (pass included - guest instructor Simon Lawton)

In the MTB Foundations Level 1, we teach you everything you need to have fun and be a confident trail rider. New and experienced riders can all benefit from a focus on learning fundamental mountain bike handling and techniques. We focus on proper balance and body position and add a host of vital skills including braking, climbing, descending, and tight turns. All skills will be discussed, demonstrated and practiced with our instructors, then taken to the trail. For Ages 14 and Up.

It is highly recommended that MTB Foundations Level 1 and MTB Foundations Level 2 are taken together.

 

MTB Foundations Level 2 - Eastern Washington

In MTB Foundations Level 2, we add cornering, a variety of wheel lifts, negotiating obstacles, line selection, switchbacks and rolldowns to the skills learned in MTB Foundations Level 1. Each skill is discussed, demonstrated and then practiced with the instructors. Throughout the class, we’ll take to the trail for real-world practice of the skill. For Ages 14 and Up.

 

It is highly recommended that MTB Foundations Level 1 and MTB Foundations Level 2 are taken together.
